Jadon Sancho Makes Appearance Against Former Club
Donyell Malen scored twice as Borussia Dortmund beat a Manchester United side featuring former player Jadon Sancho 3-2 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on July 31, 2023. The match was part of the Club Friendly Games, a series of pre-season exhibitions between European clubs.
Sancho, who left Dortmund for United in 2021, played the first half for the English club. He had a few chances to score but was unable to convert.
Malen opened the scoring for Dortmund in the 29th minute with a header from a cross by Marius Wolf. He added his second goal in the 70th minute with a shot from inside the box.
Anthony Martial scored a goal for United in the 50th minute, and Marcus Rashford added another in the 89th minute. But it was not enough to overcome Dortmund's lead.
The loss was a setback for United in their pre-season preparations. The club is set to begin its Premier League campaign on August 12 against Brighton & Hove Albion.
