Death of Conservative Commentator Lou Dobbs

Lou Dobbs, Longtime Commentator, Dies at 78

By Alex Williams and Michael Levenson

Lou Dobbs, the conservative television and radio host who loomed large over the cable news landscape for decades, has died at the age of 78. Dobbs passed away on July 18, 2024, according to a statement from his family. No cause of death was given.

Dobbs began his broadcasting career in the 1970s as a financial reporter for CNN, where he quickly gained recognition for his provocative style and conservative views. In the 1990s, he launched his own show on CNN, "Lou Dobbs Tonight," which became one of the most popular shows on the network.

In 2009, Dobbs left CNN and joined Fox Business Network, where he hosted "Lou Dobbs Tonight" for another 10 years. During his time at Fox, Dobbs became an increasingly vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump, and his show often promoted Trump's policies and agendas.
