Tax Relief for California Residents Affected by Winter Storms
Individuals and Businesses Impacted by Floods Qualify for Extensions
San Diego County
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced tax relief for individuals and businesses impacted by the recent floods in San Diego County. Taxpayers affected by these storms qualify for an extension to May 15, 2023, to file individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.
Statewide Extension
In addition, the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) has extended the state tax filing deadline for Californians affected by the storms to October 16, 2023. This extension applies to both individual and business taxpayers.
Affected Counties
The IRS and FTB have identified the following counties as being eligible for the extensions:
- Alameda
- Los Angeles
- Monterey
- Orange
- Riverside
- San Bernardino
- San Diego
- San Luis Obispo
- Santa Barbara
- Santa Cruz
- Ventura
Taxpayers who qualify for the extensions should make a note on their tax return or contact the IRS or FTB for more information.
